1, Race Officers (OOD) will be nominated for each race.

2, Adverse weather - Racing on any particular day will automatically be cancelled if wind conditions in the bay, according to coastguard or Met Fax, exceeds the following -

South through to west, being considered onshore, force 5.

Northwest through to southeast, being considered offshore, force 6.

In addition to the foregoing guidance the race officer will always use his discretion and may cancel at any time he feels it should be necessary.

3, In accordance with RYA/IYRU rules every yacht shall carry adequate lifesaving equipment for all persons on board. It is the skipper's responsibility to ensure the boat is in a seaworthy condition and should conform to the guidelines detailed in the appropriate category of the RNLI Sea Check equipment list.

The above sections 2 & 3 do not absolve skippers from ultimate responsibility for the safety of their own vessels and crew at all times. The decision to start a race or continue rests with the skipper of each boat.

4, A skipper intending to race must endeavour to have his/her vessel's name entered on the race list (which will be posted on the club notice board) or otherwise inform the race officer, no later than 21.00 hrs on the evening before the day of the race. A race will normally take place if not less than 3 boats are intended to be raced. Failure to register will not exclude a boat from racing on the day but should the minimum of boats not be achieved on the list the race may be cancelled. Late entries may be accepted on VHF channel M (37) before the start. The Skipper must pass the vessels details for inclusion on the entry form and acknowledge the declaration (as printed on the Race Entry Form) before starting the race. This will be deemed as acceptance of the MYC rules of racing.
